School Counseling

Welcome

Hampton Township School District’s school counseling department provides comprehensive services to support students and families. Based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and the Pennsylvania Career Standards, school counselors deliver services in the academic, career, and social/emotional domains.

Counseling services are provided to all students through classroom lessons, small group supports, and individual counseling. These services are designed to promote student growth, well-being, and readiness for future success.

School Counseling Department Mission:

Based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, the Hampton Township School District counseling program supports the District's mission through a wide range of developmental services and programs for all students, staff, and parents. This program identifies and mobilizes resources to meet student needs in academic, career, and social/emotional development.

The counseling services and interventions are preventative, proactive, and collaborative while addressing the diverse needs of students.

How School Counseling Supports Students

School counselors may support students by:

  • Assisting with academic planning, organization, and goal setting
  • Supporting social-emotional development and coping skills
  • Providing career awareness and postsecondary planning
  • Assisting students during transitions (elementary to middle, middle to high school, postsecondary planning)
  • Collaborating with families, teachers, and administrators

School counseling services are delivered as part of the District’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and may include universal, targeted, or individualized supports.

Accessing School Counseling Services

Students may access school counseling services through:

  • Classroom-based counseling lessons
  • Referrals from teachers or administrators
  • Parent/guardian requests
  • Student self-referral, when appropriate

Parents and guardians who have concerns about their child’s academic, social, or emotional well-being are encouraged to contact their child’s school counselor directly.

For concerns that may involve mental health, behavioral, or emotional barriers to learning, counselors may collaborate with the Student Assistance Program (SAP) and other student services to ensure coordinated support.
